I like how tumblr turns purple for the gay people that committed suicide, but not pink for breast cancer awareness month for all the people that didn’t have a choice between life and death.
No disrespect, but this is true.
I know what you mean, but this is about showing support and bringing awareness to something that a lot of people downplay or straight up ignore. Breast cancer barely needs any more awareness worldwide than it already has. This is something people need to fight NOW, instead of hushing it or sweeping it under the carpet as if it weren’t happening. It’s sad that awareness takes tragedies, but it’s the truth. This is what Spirit Day is about. Taking a tragedy and trying to turn it around for the best in the future. It’s not that breast cancer is to be ignored. But you don’t hear many prople say “I fucking hate people with breast cancer” or “You have breast cancer? Go kill yourself”. There are no derogatory names for those who suffer breast cancer. They are not beat up, harassed and made to wish they were dead. It’s a different situation altogether. (On a lighter note, it’s comparing Twilight to Harry Potter! Different worlds, my friend)
